Starting July 22, Minecraft players can join the MC Championship x Minecraft 15th Anniversary Party. This two-week server event celebrates Minecraft’s 15th anniversary. It features four MCC-inspired mini-games, hidden challenges, shops, and collectibles. By taking part in activities, players can earn Character Creator items, including the exclusive MC Championship Cape!

A Brief History of Minecraft Capes

Minecraft capes have a long history. The first capes came out in 2011 during MineCon, the official Minecraft convention. Attendees of the event received exclusive capes. These capes became some of the most coveted items in the game. Over the years, Mojang, the developer of Minecraft, has given out capes for various reasons. These include bug reporting, community contributions, and special events.

Some notable capes include the 2011 and 2012 MineCon capes. There is also the Mojang cape, given to Mojang employees, and the Cobalt cape for those who took part in the Cobalt game competition. Additionally, capes were given to players who moved their Minecraft accounts to a Mojang account during certain times. More recently, capes have been used to celebrate milestones or collaborations within the Minecraft community.

How to Join the Event

To join the MCC Party, click the dedicated button on the main screen of Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. The event runs from July 22 at 1 pm EDT to August 4 at 6 pm EDT. The server is only accessible via Bedrock Edition, and an internet connection is required. Console players will need a subscription like Xbox Live Gold/Game Pass, PlayStation Plus, or Nintendo Switch Online. For child accounts, make sure server play is enabled in the account settings.

Earning the MC Championship Cape

To unlock the MC Championship Cape, players must complete 15 challenges during the event. One challenge involves solving a mystery presented in an image. Here’s a breakdown of what you need to do:

1. Participate in Mini-Games: Play mini-games like Ace Race, Grid Runners, Sands of Time, and Meltdown to earn in-game currency and rewards.
2. Complete Daily Challenges: For the first seven days, you’ll get a cryptic challenge image each day. Decipher these images to complete the challenges.
3. Solve Hidden Challenges: Use the second week to figure out and complete the seven hidden challenges for extra rewards.

By completing these activities, you’ll not only enjoy the festive event but also earn the coveted MC Championship Cape. Therefore, get ready to join the party and leave no block unturned!

Mini-Games Overview

1. Ace Race
   Ace Race is a thrilling mini-game where you race through a short obstacle course. Use speed boosts, jump pads, and elytra sections to navigate the course as quickly as possible. Speed boosts give you extra momentum. Jump pads propel you to new heights. Elytra sections let you glide through the air. Consequently, mastering these elements and maintaining your speed is crucial to win.
2. Grid Runners
   Grid Runners is a variety-challenge course. You must complete each task within a set time before moving to the next one. This mini-game tests various skills like parkour, puzzle-solving, combat, and teamwork. It was originally a free map from Minecon Earth 2018. Each challenge is fast-paced and engaging, requiring quick thinking and efficient actions.
3. Sands of Time
   Sands of Time is a dungeon-delving PVE mini-game. It has obstacles, traps, monsters, and treasure. Navigate through a maze-like dungeon, avoid traps, and fight monsters to collect treasure. You race against the clock, gathering sand to extend your time while exploring deeper into the dungeon. Thus, planning strategically and reacting quickly is essential to maximize your treasure haul and escape before time runs out.
4. Meltdown

Availability for Java Edition Players

As of now, the new MC Championship Cape is not available for Minecraft: Java Edition players. This exclusive event and its rewards, including the cape, are only available to players on Minecraft: Bedrock Edition.
